Psoriasis Ultraviolet Light Therapy

Ultraviolet light treatment, also called targeted phototherapy, involves exposing the skin to ultraviolet light under medical supervision. It may be used on its own or along with topicals. There are two types of phototherapy: UVB and PUVA.

Like all treatments, light therapy has both benefits and risks. It is important to talk with your healthcare provider about the risks and how you can minimize them. Be certain to tell

your healthcare provider about all medications you are taking, including any over-the-counter, non-prescription medications, herbs or supplements. Some medications can make your skin more sensitive to light and increase the risk of sunburn.
